why it's impossible to not look cool with a crossbow

Q: "Chupacabra" is a pretty intense episode.
A: It's like Deliverance meets Motorhead.

Q: In this episode, Daryl has a necklace of ears. Were you pleased with the necklace?
A: It's a necklace of ears, man! Cutting off the ears is just Daryl getting angry and doing what he has to do to save himself. I love that he's still like that.

Q: Last year you told us your challenge was to make a racist likeable. Now your character is a fan favorite. Have you enjoyed the switch?
A: I've tried to make him more of a multi-layered character -- someone who can tear up and then try to knife you. He's kind of like this wet little coyote that doesn't know where he's at and people are trying to reach over and pet him and he snaps back.

Q: Last year you told us you had never used a crossbow before. You must be pretty comfortable with the thing by now?
A: [Laughs] I'm pretty well-versed in crossbow-ness by now, but I'm still figuring out new ways to use it all the time. These days I can flip it around my back or use it to prop a shotgun up. I've gotten good at running and shooting it, too. My latest accomplishment is that I can jump on a horse and hook the reins onto the horn of the saddle and flip it over my back and load and fire it while riding. You can't not look cool with a crossbow.

Q: The zombie actors must cringe when they have a scene with you.
A: You have to dry fire on set -- and it's with another wimpy crossbow, with the tension let out. If it's a close range zombie kill, like that episode where I roll over on my back and shoot a zombie who's on top of me, it's with that Nerf-like crossbow.

Q: Daryl is a survivalist and outdoors type of guy. Are you like that?
A: [Laughs] I've been camping and stuff, but if you left me in the woods I'd probably just curl up and cry until someone found me. I have to say living in Georgia while shooting The Walking Dead -- I love the country. I've been riding my motorcycle in my time off, not seeing anyone for hours. I love it here.

Q: Have you stumbled upon any hidden secrets in your travels around Georgia?
A: I also have an old truck -- a 1979 Ford F150 that has big wheels on it -- and what I've found out is that if you ride in the country in a truck, the other truck drivers wave to you. I love the politeness down here.

Q: Did you give Laurie Holden a hard time because her character shoots Daryl?
A: Yeah we had a big laugh about that. I was like "Laurie, I can't believe you did that!" She was like, "I was really sad, I swear!" She's become a good friend of mine. We've all become really tight on the show

Big Morning Buzz Interview

It’s nice to be horrible ~ (TimeOutDubai 11/11)

Do you have to get fit to run away from zombies at the beginning of each summer?

I did a film in between, but you lose weight and get fit just being in Atlanta because it’s 100 billion degrees here. Atlanta is definitely a character in the show. I think it helps constantly sweating, because you’re constantly uncomfortable.

Was Daryl always designed to be a regular on the show?

That’s the bad thing about being on a zombie show. You never know when you’re going to get bit, but I knew if I did a good job I’d be here for a while. It’s my favourite job I’ve ever been on. So I hope it lasts a long time.

What makes it your favourite?

I like the crew and the cast. I had fears going into television that it might become boring to me and I always like to be challenged and push myself. With this, I try to make the best of every single day and I try to find the nuances that make Daryl a unique guy and not just a hero or antihero.

Daryl has a particular way of offing zombies, is that something that carries on and does he branch out and try new ways?

I have a couple of cool kills. The double axe is one. He’s sort of like MacGyver when it comes to murder. He’ll kill you with whatever is around.

Are you going to keep killing zombies with the arrow?

Oh yeah. I’m not going to let that go. I’m going to try and hold on to that as much as possible. The thing with the crossbow is that it’s quiet so you don’t attract other zombies. The only bad part is that I’ve got to get my arrow back after they’ve been killed.

Were you a fan of comic books or horror movies growing up?

I love horror movies. My favourite movie growing up was The Omen. I actually wanted to be that little kid and in many ways I was. I used to have a school teacher that I used to stare at until she got nervous. I’m a big fan of horror films and have worked with some great directors. It’s nice to be horrible.

Why do you think people embrace the violence as opposed to turning away from it?

It’s violence against zombies and I don’t think anybody wants to cuddle a zombie. The show is not just about us versus zombies, it’s about how people interact with others in a crisis, who can you trust, who’s going to do you over, what similarities you find in other people as your characters work together. There are levels of trust that happens in this small circle of people that probably wouldn’t happen in the real world. Certain secrets are divulged, you’re in such a frantic state that things come out that you don’t mean to let come out.

What do you think about the success of the first season?

The show has universal topics in it. Maybe that’s it. It’s a different kind of show with monsters but none of our monsters have a six pack, eyeliner or are sexy. It’s more of a disaster show. Common elements in human interaction are there. This could happen anywhere.

being with Gaga was inpiring

In a recent interview with MTV, Reedus went first and described Gaga as a super cool girl from New York. He revealed that Gaga is religious and offers her prayers regularly.
He described the Mother Monster as a team player, who is not afraid to speak her mind out and unlike the perceived-opinion; Norman said that she is not weird in any way.
He further added that Gaga is a very bold and open-minded artist, who loves challenges and ‘really takes the bull by the horns.’

Judas video’s Jesus, Gonzalez also chimed in and said that a major part of her cool attitude is transferred in her on-set chemistry with her creative director and pal Laurieann Gibson.
He found her ‘passionate and very driven.’

In recent times, everything that the thought-provoking singer does seems to attract some sort of controversy, but according to Norman Reedus, Gaga never intends to hurt people and any offense caused by her material is purely coincidental.
He said that Gaga is way too cool to pull such stunts and she would never intentionally write stuff that would provoke controversy.

Talking about Gaga’s famous work ethic, Norman Reedus said that she works like a machine and he felt really slow in front of her, when he tried to match her shoulder to shoulder.
“That girl works really, really hard. … I felt sort of lazy around her. It was kind of inspiring,” he concluded.

The Conspirator - review & Interview w/Norman

Review

One Bullet killed the President-but not one man.

The Conspirator tells the story of the aftermath of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln the 16th President of the USA.
After the assasination a manhunt is started immediately. Seven men and one woman, Mary Surratt, are arrested and charged for conspiring.

Frederick Aiken (James McAvoy), a 28-year-old Union war-hero, reluctantly agrees to defend Surratt before a military tribunal. Aiken realizes his client may be innocent, but she is being used as bait and hostage to capture the only conspirator to have escaped a massive manhunt – her own son, John (Johnny Simmons).

It seems like the trial is really more of a formality on the path to Surratt’s execution, with Secretary of War Edwin Stanton (Kevin Kline) working in collusion with the prosecuting attorney, Joseph Holt (Danny Huston), and the military tribunal of judges to ensure that Surratt is found guilty and the nation’s bloodlust for revenge is satisfied.

With the help of Mary's daughter Anna (Evan Rachel Wood), Aiken sets out to prove the tribunal of Mary's innocence despite his personal beliefs to the contrary.

The Film shows that a mother would go to any length to protect her son.

I recommend this film to anyone that can appreciate a good drama.
